Dimitri Van den Bergh is in good shape at the Grand Slam of Darts, one of the most important tournaments of the year. On Monday he already broke the tournament record with an impressive average of 114.85 points.
And today he continued his streak against Jonny Clayton. Van den Bergh, two-time world youth champion, threw a maximum throw of 180 points no less than 8 times. This time he came to an average of 103.61 points. So it became 10-3 for our fellow countryman.
“I am very satisfied”, says Van den Bergh. “Another quarter-final in a major tournament. I was particularly strong in the first two sessions. In the third session I missed a number of double chances, but I was able to put the pressure on Jonny.”
“I feel like my fingers are swollen, but it must be because of the adrenaline. Hopefully I can maintain this level of form during the rest of the tournament.”
