In Australia, the koala is a "functionally extinct" species

The NGO Australian Koala Foundation recently revealed the disappearance of the koala in 41 previously occupied areas due to the destruction of its natural habitat. These emblematic animals would be only 80,000 in the wild, against 10 million 200 years ago.
