Kalnapilis – Tauras grupė, one of the largest producers of beer and soft drinks in Lithuania, is starting to implement a long-term sustainability strategy that will help the company until 2025. fundamentally transform and become maximally climate neutral.

We aim not only to build successful, sustainable brands that people trust, but also to reduce their impact on the environment, create safe working conditions, and contribute to prosperity in the communities in which we operate. We believe that all the goals we have set will significantly contribute to the creation of a healthier society and a cleaner environment, ”said Marijus Valdas Kirstukas, CEO of Kalnapilis-Tauras Group.
The company’s sustainability strategy, which focuses on three main areas: products, consumers and employees, includes nine goals, six of which are planned to be achieved by 2025, and the rest by 2030. Investment in sustainability initiatives will reach around € 1.3 million this year. by 2025 – 7 to 8 million euros.

In implementing the sustainability strategy, customer evaluation is very important for the Kalnapilis-Tauras Group – the manufacturer will reach 2025. to become the first choice and most sustainable partner for its customers in the beer and soft drink industry segment. The results achieved in the field of sustainability will be measured by special studies.
“In order to be the first sustainable choice among companies in our field, we are committed to constantly reviewing and improving our operating principles, taking into account the opinions of our customers, so we are starting to measure our progress through annual customer surveys,” says MV Kirstukas.
The focus will be on healthier products – consumers want to be able to choose local products with less sugar or alcohol in addition to their favorite drinks. According to the head of the company, the aim is to offer healthier drinks for various life situations – not only to quench and refresh thirst, but also to replenish energy reserves during sports or travel.

Will reduce the impact on the environment
One of the most ambitious goals of the company’s sustainability strategy is climate-neutral production by 2025. and by 2030. at least 50 percent reduced carbon footprint (CO²) throughout the supply chain.
“We are already using 100 percent. renewable electricity that we buy from our partners. The next step is to build our own solar power plants on the roofs of production buildings and electricity from remote solar power plants. We also want by 2025. completely abandon fossil fuels, we are still looking for gas alternatives. At the moment, we have already done an analysis of suppliers, we are choosing the option that best meets the needs of the company, and we intend to start implementing it next year, ”said MV Kirstukas.
The sustainability strategy pays particular attention to beverage packaging, which is one of the factors contributing to environmental pollution. With the start of the packaging collection system, the situation with packaging handling has significantly improved – more than 90% of the country is collected. all packaging placed on the market.
“We are not going to stop here and we want to make our packaging as sustainable as possible. We have set a goal for 2025. 100 percent use recycled, recyclable or reusable packaging. This will require close cooperation with partners, search for new ideas and innovation, ”said the head of the company.
Kalnapilis-Taurus Group is already making changes – last year the plastic beer bottles were changed to 100%. recycled plastic bottles, we are continuing these changes this year and applying them to our entire range of beverages. Plastic bottle packaging will be changed to cardboard, and plastic can packaging will be replaced by 100 percent. recycled plastic. New tetrapacks of Cido juice with a screw cap will be available soon – the first solution in Europe to help reduce pollution.
