When interviewed by a local TV station, the survivors said the plane went up and down many times before landing in the rain.

Rescue workers and residents immediately went to the scene to help passengers get out of the plane.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mourned the accident.

“I am very sad about the plane crash in Kozikhode. My condolences to those left by their loved ones. For those who are injured, hopefully they can recover soon,” Modi said via his Twitter account @narendramodi.
