The Paris public prosecutor's office has just opened a preliminary inquiry in a case concerning the wage guarantee insurance (AGS), the mechanism that ensures the payment of wages to employees of companies in difficulty. According to a judicial source, the file was entrusted on May 10 to the financial brigade.

The procedure was the result of two complaints: one had been lodged at the end of March by the Medef, the Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises and the employers' association which covers the AGS; the other was sent a few days later to the public prosecutor's office by the General Directorate of Unédic – to which the AGS is attached.

According to a statement from the Medef, broadcast on March 25, serious anomalies would have occurred within the AGS. Updated by an audit of the firm EY, they could raise "Breach of trust and active or passive bribery".

At a press conference, Patricia Ferrand, president of Unédic (CFDT), said on March 26 that "Dysfunction" in question "Essentially committed partnerships" by the AGS. "We are talking about facts that have been organized enough to escape control bodies (the Court of Auditors and the Auditors) ", had completed Eric Le Jaouen, vice president (Medef) Unédic.

Possible "malpractices"

According to our information, several service providers – including a law firm – would be involved in these possible "Embezzlement", committed before the end of 2018 new leaders at the head of the AGS.

Requested early April by The worldThierry Météyé, the previous director of the AGS (1996-2018), had confided not understand the accusations launched. Assuring to have exercised his mission with "Rigor, loyalty and transparency"he was also surprised not to have been auditioned by EY.
