Islam Slimani scorer against Brondby

Holder in attack with his friend Moussa Dembele this evening against Brondby, Islam Slimani left his mark during this match by scoring Lyon’s third goal.

Olympique Lyonnais did not have many chances in the first half, during which Slimani failed to show himself like his teammates in attack, the first period ended in a goalless draw. In the second half, the two teams opted for a more offensive game, thus generating the opening of the Danish scoring in the 50th minute of play through Mikael Uhre.

However, seven minutes later, OL managed to come back to the score through Rayan Cherki following an action in which Slimani was involved. Thus, the latter succeeds a beautiful sequence before shooting but the opposing goalkeeper pushes the ball which goes towards the feet of his defender. Before watching the action, Cherki steals the ball and scores his first Europa League goal of his career.

A few minutes after the Rhone equalizer, the French Espoir international offers himself a double, before the Lyonnais complete their success thanks to Islam Slimani. The Algerian international manages to place a header in the net following a cross from newcomer Lucas Paqueta. Thanks to this goal, Slimani scored his third Europa League goal this season, as well as his seventh in his career, which allows the former CRB player to reach the ten-goal mark in all European competitions (7 goals in Europa League and 3 goals in the Champions League).
