Cleveland Browns center, JC Tretter, is the new president of the NFL Players Association.
The union announced on Twitter on Tuesday that its player representative board elected Tretter prominently.
Tretter was among the four players nominated for the presidency. The others were Russell Okung of the Carolina Panthers, Michael Thomas of the New York Giants and Sam Acho of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Okung withdrew from consideration, according to several reports.
Last week, Tretter wrote and published a detailed breakdown of the proposed new collective bargaining agreement to inform other players as they vote on whether to accept it. He did not reveal how he intends to vote on the proposal. The deadline for voting is at 11:59 pm on Saturday.
Tretter graduated from Cornell University with a degree in industrial and union relations.
