The Voyageurs de Jonquière managed to turn the series against Tyrans Gatineau, Saturday evening, at the Richard-Desmeules stadium, so well that they qualified for the next round thanks to 2 victories.
Backed against the wall in this best-of-three series, Jonquière’s Quebec Junior Elite Baseball League (LBJÉQ) team absolutely had to win to extend its season.
The Voyageurs took a 4-3 lead to tie the series before claiming a dramatic victory in the ninth inning of Game 2 by a score of 7-6 in front of approximately 1,000 spectators.
Third baseman Zachary Boivin ended the hostilities when he hit the base hit and the bases were all occupied. This part lasted more than three and a half hours.
Michaël Bélanger’s men must now wait for the results of the rest of the first round to know their next opponents. The second round will be played in a three-on-five format.
