Actress Karen Gillan deactivated Alexa for fear that “she” could spill gossip about any Hollywood gossip.
The Guardians of the Galaxy star stopped using his Amazon Echo device after it emerged that user voices can be recorded and heard by technicians.
He said: “I had an Alexa, then I was afraid that it would transmit all my conversations.
“What if I said something about work, then would Alexa pass it on? It could ruin my career. You could turn to us. I love juice, I love gossip, but what if you talk about someone and they make it up? So I don’t want to limit it to my house.
“Oh my God, what’s going on in the world? This is a real threat. “

The ex Doctor Who star Karen, 32, revealed his fears in a podcast ahead of the release of the new film The Call of the Wild, with Harrison Ford.
He also starred in Avengers: Endgame and in Jumanji’s films alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The Scottish-born star said that Hollywood’s success meant “my greatest pride is being able to take care of my family financially. I’m happy for that.”

Karen spoke of Alexa as the figures show that over 100 million Amazon echoes have been sold. More than nine million people in the UK use an intelligent speaker: Echo, Google’s Home or Apple HomePod. The most common questions concern time and music.
Amazon whistleblowers said workers in Costa Rica, India, Romania and the United States listen to up to 1,000 audio clips per day.
An Amazon spokesman said: “Customers can review and delete voice recordings at any time in the Alexa app. All recordings transmitted to the cloud are encrypted and securely stored. Customer trust is of the utmost importance and we take privacy seriously. “
The company said that foreign workers “manually review” one percent of Alexa’s requests to improve functioning. Customers can choose not to include their registrations.
