Kevin De Bruyne frightens Man City ahead of the Manchester United clash

Pep Guardiola doesn’t know if Kevin De Bruyne will be fit for the Manchester derby after losing the FA Cup victory over Sheffield on Wednesday with a back injury.

The director left the bench in the Carabao Cup final but suffered an injury in the last minutes at Wembley which left him unable to make the team of the day for Wednesday’s game in Hillsborough.

The Manchester City manager hopes that the problem is not too serious but was unable to say on the evening of the Sheffield Wednesday game how long he will stay out of De Bruyne or if he will be available for the game against Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford.

However, he confirmed that Kyle Walker was simply rested for the game.

The right-back had started the previous six games and with Joao Cancelo out of favor at the time – his departure from Hillsborough was his first since January – Walker is expected to regain his place on the team for some of the crisis games.

“Kevin had a problem – he wasn’t in shape,” said Guardiola. “The last game, the last few minutes he fell into a bad position and had a back problem. Hopefully not much [of a problem].

“Kyle has played many minutes, many games lately I want to give him rest for the next games.”
