Kim Clijsters will not participate in Roland-Garros, scheduled from September 27 to October 11. The Limburgoise announced on Monday that she has decided to end her season to spend time with her family.
Clijsters, 37, had participated in the US Open, a tournament for which she had received a wildcard, and was eliminated in the first round by Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova. She therefore decided to skip the French Open and put an end to her season. “I decided to spend the next few weeks with my family. The US Open has shown me that I have made progress but still have to work. I will let you know about my next tournament soon.”, Clijsters wrote on Twitter.
The Limburger started her second return to the WTA circuit earlier this year and played in the Dubai and Monterrey tournaments before the season’s hiatus. During the resumption, she had participated in World Team Tennis before withdrawing from the Cincinnati tournament due to abdominal pain.
