Kim Jong-un Act, South Korea Operates Full 40 F-35 Stealth Fighter Jets

SEOUL – Military South Korea (South Korea) states as many as 40 units F-35A Lightning II stealth fighter jet now fully operational. This step was taken after the regime Kim Jong-un in North Korea (North Korea) acted with a series of missile tests.

South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) confirmed the operation of dozens of Lockheed Martin fighter jets produced by the United States (US).

According to the ministry, 40 units of the Republic of Korea Air Force (RoKAF) F-35A fighter aircraft have carried out “elephant walk [jalan gajah]” oriented training on March 25, 2022.

“Elephant walk carried out by the F-35 following the induction of the last unit,” read the ministry’s press release on Wednesday, as quoted from the defense website JanesThursday (31/3/2022).

“Furthermore, the F-35A combat force is fully operational.”

However, no information regarding the 40 aircraft was disclosed.

According to the report, the ministry spokesman noted that the ministry could not confirm information about the military power and induction of the F-35 as a strategic weapon in the RoK Air Force.

Under a $6.4 billion contract announced in 2014, South Korea ordered 40 F-35A jets for the Air Force. The F-35 is operated from Cheongju Air Base by the 17th Fighter Wing of the South Korean Air Force.
