Korea Southern Power launches DID-based member company certification service for the first time as a public institution

[블록미디어 강주현 기자] On the 6th, Korea Southern Power Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as’Southern Power’) announced on the 6th that it will be launching member company authentication services through DID, the first public institution’s distributed identity authentication technology.

Nambu Power introduced it into a comprehensive management system for a new and renewable energy supply certificate (REC) based on a blockchain. The renewable energy supply certificate refers to a document that has been certified by the government on the amount of power generation through new and renewable energy by a power generation business entity with power generation facilities above a certain standard.

To this end, Nambu Power developed and distributed a’NEW REC management system’ mobile app based on blockchain DID. DID is an electronic identification system that distributes and manages identification information on personal devices. Member companies now control personal information, so organizations can prevent leakage accidents that may occur due to the possession of personal information.

Nambu Power used the’NEW REC management system’ to link the member company’s business registration number and related issuance information, and then store it in a blockchain to prevent forgery or alteration of the issuance history. Convenience was improved by converting the process of registering an account and receiving contract change documents, which were submitted in person or by mail, to non-face-to-face (online).

Southern Power is also planning to gradually expand the scope of use by discovering additional non-face-to-face services based on DID certification. To establish an integrated DID certification system (REC field) for power generation enterprises, related agencies will be consulted.
