Lawson achieves a remarkable victory in the second Monaco race

Liam Lawson maintained his pressure on Formula 2 drivers’ leader Juanio Xu by winning the second race in Monaco, the second round of the 2021 season, as the Haitec driver turned his weak start to a well-deserved win against Carlin driver Daniel Tektum and Prima driver Oscar Piastre.

Lawson lost first place in the race to Piastre at the start of the first lap, but regained the lead after five laps to the end of the race.

Piastre dropped to third behind Tektum after that, as the two-time Macau Grand Prix winner overtook the prima driver and approached leader Lawson, but the latter maintained his advantage and blocked the British’s attack in the middle of the race, to cross the finish line 8 seconds ahead.

The fourth place went to Hitec driver Uri Vibes, ahead of Frenchman Theo Borcher. In turn, Ralph Bouchong (Campus) was able to take the lead over MB Motorsport duo Richard Vershore and Lyrem Zindeli.

After finishing the first race in the first and second places, UNI Vertuzzi’s duo, Joanio Zu and Felipe Droogovic, settled for 16th and 15th, respectively.
