Leonard 35, Bucks 105-99 met for 3-2 lead

MILWAUKEE (AP) – Kawhi Leonard scored 35 points and Toronto Raptors broke the Milwaukee Bucks 105-99 Thursday night to take 3-2 leadership in the Eastern Congress finals.

Leonard did not show any clear signs of the illness of the foot that affected him in Toronto's previous two games, hitting the 30-point mark for the fourth time in the series. He made five points and had seven goals and nine help.

Fred VanVleet scored 21 points, hitting three 3s. Kyle Lowry added 17 because the Norwegians put themselves in a position to progress the NBA Final for the first time. A win at home would set up a replica with a Golden State defensive champion.

"This was a very hard win tonight," said the birds' coach Nick Nurse.

The birds hit prey out of a 14-point hole soon, then they got 15 points from Leonard in the fourth quarter to send the top-seed Bucks to their first strike through a lost game in the season.

"We decided the storm soon," Leonard said.

Gasol met the two free throws to make it 100-97. Another revision of Toronto was in favor when officials decided that the ball went out of Brogdon with 26.8 seconds left. Brogdon pulled her hand away, thinking that the dribble had gone away from Pascal Siakam's foot.

Siakam then drove for a dunk, making it 102-97, and the birds hung for that.

Milwaukee was at the forefront of 81-79 with about 8 1/2 minutes left when Leonard put back 3-on-back tips. He met two free throws before Siakam threw down a dunk that was returned to make it 89-81.

The Bucks tied it at 93-all with 2:44 left on 3 pointer at Lopez. VanVleet responded to one of his own before Antetokounmpo spent aloe-aloe dunk to cut it to 96-95 with just over two minutes remaining.

The Bucks soon settled and 10 were after the first quarter, smiling the fans who were lying on the towel talking “Man of the Deer! They stand with a 16-2 run by Toronto to start the second, with Antetokounmpo nailing 3 to stop it.

The Bucks went on early 14-2 in third place, and threw the Greek Freak down a dunk hard for life with Middleton for a 63-51 lead. But the birds of prey got back into it.


Wild Birds: Lowry now has 1,126 points in 66 playoff games for Toronto, passing DeMar DeRozan (117) as postseason score leader of the franchise.

Bucks: Brogdon started on the 64 games he took part in during the regular season, before losing the first two rounds due to heel injury. With Brogdon back in the lineup, Nikola Mirotic came from the bench.
