(ANSA) – ROME, SEPTEMBER 15 – Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio heard the families of the crew of the fishing boats seized in Libya, the mayor of Mazara del Vallo and the shipowners, to whom he assured the maximum commitment of the government for a positive resolution of the affair. It is learned from diplomatic sources. The pressing of the Farnesina, according to what is learned, is relentless: yesterday Di Maio first heard from his Emirati counterpart and today he will hear the Russian minister Lavrov. Both the Emirates and Moscow are two very influential actors towards Benghazi. A government summit will be convened on the issue, because “the action must be unanimous”, explained the head of the Farnesina. For years, the foreign ministry has advised Italian navies not to fish in the waters where the seizure of fishing boats took place.
