To support the measures against the coronavirus, Lower Austrian clinics now want to reprocess protective masks.
Respiratory masks used and tested are sterilized and packaged “hygienically flawless” in the logistics centers of the Wiener Neustadt State Hospital and the St. Pölten University Hospital.
Clinics in Lower Austria reprocess masks
The health agency expects to be able to provide up to 3,000 masks of type FFP2 and FFP3, with and without a valve, for reuse. The cleaning process meets “the criteria of the reprocessing of medical products”.
The containers in which the masks would be delivered were first given a wipe disinfection and then went through a sterilization process. “Only then are the masks checked for reusability, sorted out if necessary and then every single mask repackaged,” it said.
