The Make Sense campaign is an initiative of the European Head and Neck Society (EHNS). This campaign wants people to be more aware of head and neck cancer, to recognize the symptoms of this cancer faster and therefore to see a doctor earlier. Only then do patients have a greater chance of survival and a better quality of life.

The symptoms

When is it important to see a doctor? The main complaints, especially if you have been suffering for more than three weeks, are non-healing sores in the mouth/throat/lips, swelling of the neck, hoarseness, vomiting blood, pain when swallowing and sore throat, and bloody ears. reason

Treatment center

ETZ is a regional treatment center for head and neck cancer patients. For this treatment, the hospital works together with the Verbeeten Institute and Erasmus MC. Every year, 150 new patients with a head and neck tumor are treated at the ETZ.

According to the Top Clinical Hospitals Foundation (STZ) Care Registry, ETZ offers the best clinical care for patients with head and neck tumors. This makes the hospital the first major clinical hospital in the Netherlands to be recognized for the treatment of this form of cancer. Head and neck cancer patients from all over the region are treated at the ETZ. To this end, the hospital works closely with the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam and the Verbeeten Institute, where patients are irradiated.
