The case is being updated.
At 23.33 on Monday night, the police were notified that a man was missing from an institution in Ålen. A search operation was eventually launched.
Just before 08.00 on Tuesday morning, the police confirm that the missing man has been found alive.
Dog crews from Norwegian rescue dogs, crews from the Red Cross, drones from the fire service, police dogs and two police patrols have contributed to the search night to Tuesday and Tuesday morning.
It was also considered to install a Sea king helicopter, but in the morning there was too much fog.
At 07.42, the police received a decisive tip from the public.
– A lady called us and said that her husband had an eye on a person up in the lift route in the alpine resort in Ålen. We sent up the fire brigade’s drone, and already at 07.48 the drone had found him, says police operations manager Frank Brevik.
He has no doubt that the case could have had a tragic outcome if it had not been for the vigilant neighbors. Night to Tuesday it must have been rain, wind and a few plus degrees in Ålen.
– This is a fantastic effort by the search crews and the awake neighbors who spotted him, says operations manager Brevik.
He says that the man who was missing, now gets the health care he needs.
