Manchester United – Watford LIVE: updated scores and goals, plus team news like Pereira or Lingard

Four players return to the team to face Watford

Scott McTominay could make his long-awaited return from injury today when United host Watford in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old was knocked out of Boxing Day with knee ligament damage, but arrived with teammates on their pre-game base at The Lowry Hotel on Saturday night.

“I think he might be on the team,” said United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. “He had a day off today, so let’s see what tomorrow will be like. Mason was sick. I’m not surprised because this is the type [McTominay] is.

“He is a physical champion. He is a leader, he never goes underground and faces everyone with him. He can sit with Nemanja [Matic] or Fred, or he can be one of the runners in midfield.

“We’re talking about it today, that we don’t have that many runs past the attacker. He was a striker before, so he was used to being in the box.”

Mason Greenwood also recovered from illness to form the temporary team, while Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes returned to the senior team.

Axel Tuanzebe, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Paul Pogba are not yet available against 19th place Watford, who beat United 2-0 on 22 December at Vicarage Road.
