Many Complaints for Failure to Pay Cooperatives, Still Prepare Permenkop!

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Minister of Cooperatives and MSMEs (Kemenkop), Teten Masduki, stated that he would improve the supervisory system for savings and loan cooperatives (KSP) after the many complaints received by the Ministry of Cooperatives regarding cases of default.

Later, a new Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (Permenkop) Regulation will be prepared.

One of the things that has been sticking out in the public lately is the KSP Indosurya Cipta default case, which has a value of Rp. 14 trillion.

In a hearing with Commission VI of the DPR RI, Teten admitted that currently he has received many complaints from people who invested their funds in cooperatives or became members of cooperatives which are now defaulting.

So that no more people will become victims, Teten will immediately improve the cooperative supervision system through the Permenkop.

“Regarding cooperatives, yes, we are evaluating now that there are many complaints to us, people who invest their money in cooperatives or become cooperative members who are now defaulting. And this is starting to be a lot,” said Teten.

“And this is starting a lot so indeed we need to immediately improve this new supervision system to protect the community and also to protect the good name of the cooperative,” said Teten, at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (9/22/2020).

He continued, currently the moratorium on cooperative permit suspension has been completed and it is hoped that in the near future the new Permenkop will soon be issued.

“Permenkop is processed in the near future will be published,” he continued.

On a previous occasion, this former Presidential Chief of Staff also urged that problematic savings and loan cooperatives, including the KSP Indosurya, immediately hold a special member meeting to find common solutions to the problems faced.

The ministry he leads has also coordinated and collaborated with the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

“[Soal Indosurya] We have asked for cooperation with the OJK. For savings and loan cooperatives, in the face of unfavorable economic situations, they must immediately hold a special member meeting to find solutions together with members, “said Teten.

He explained, the thing that needs to be distinguished between a bank and a cooperative is that the cooperative’s customers are members of the cooperative so there is a shared responsibility.
