CHECK YOUR MUNICIPALITYAfter several days of increasing new infections with COVID-19 in the region, a decrease can be seen today. Yesterday, five municipalities were still in dark orange, now there is only one. It concerns the municipality of Rijssen-Holten. Yesterday there were 28.8 positive tests on 100,000 inhabitants, today that figure has risen to 34.
The vaccination rate is increasing: more and more people have had all the necessary shots. The map at the bottom of this story shows that. In the Achterhoek in particular, many people have been fully vaccinated.
Four municipalities no longer dark orange
The municipalities that show a decrease are Staphorst, Zwolle, Heerde and Ermelo. Heerde rose yesterday from 16 positive tests per 100,000 inhabitants to 42.6. Today the counter is at 0. Staphorst fell from 34.8 to 5.8, Zwolle from 28.5 to 18.5. Ermelo registered 33.3 infections per 100,000 inhabitants yesterday and is today at 14.8. The only municipality with 0 positive tests is Dalfsen.
The declining figures in the region conflict with the national picture. Between Tuesday and Wednesday morning, 2863 new corona cases were registered throughout the Netherlands. That is considerably more than a day earlier, when there were 2,488.
The security regions remain alert. North East Gelderland remains at risk level 3, which is serious. IJsselland rose from level 2 (worrying) to level 3 (serious). This is due to the increasing number of hospital admissions. In IJsselland, this rose from 1 on average in the past week to 2. The Flevoland safety region remains at risk level 4 (very serious). There the infections are declining, but the numbers are still relatively high.
Vaccination rate is increasing
The vaccination rate continues to increase, although the increase is lagging behind in municipalities with a Christian signature. Up to and including last Sunday, more than 22.6 million corona shots have been taken nationwide. This means that almost 76 percent of all adults have now received a full vaccination. About 85 percent has received a first shot, according to figures published on Wednesday by the RIVM.
Most of the region has a vaccination rate between 60 and 74%. Outliers to the top are Raalte, Olst-Wijhe, Lochem, Voorst, Berkelland and Bronckhorst. Here the vaccination rate has been increased between 75 and 84%. The lowest vaccination coverage can be found in Staphorst, Nunspeet and Urk: 40 to 59%.
