Faced with the numerous testimonies of sexist and sexual harassment by female employees of
Assembly, the deputies voted Wednesday the creation of a device of struggle, which will appear in the regulation of the institution.

For the moment, we do not know the details of this amendment proposed by the rapporteur Sylvain Waserman (MoDem). Adopted Wednesday evening in the Committee on Laws, it provides for the inclusion in the regulation of the establishment of "a prevention and support system in the fight against all forms of harassment and discrimination."

The persistence of harassment

"It is clear our obligation to implement this device," said Sylvain Waserman, referring to "a step because for now it was not there." "The task force on harassment commissioned, at my request, more specifically on sexist and sexual aspects, will make its conclusions before the summer. Their analysis and their work will allow the Bureau to specify the solutions to be provided, "said Assembly President Richard Ferrand (LREM) on Twitter.

The establishment of such a device comes after the alerts of the group "Chair collaboratrice", which had denounced late March, figures in support, the persistence of sexist harassment and sexual Assembly. The collective calls for the establishment of an independent listening unit.

The creation of a listening cell encouraged

Deputies from all sides, led by the former "walker" Matthieu Orphelin, had in the course of time sent a letter to Richard Ferrand, pleading for "quick decisions". The elected representative of Maine-et-Loire welcomed on Twitter after the adoption of the amendment that the Assembly "resolutely committed against the end of harassment".

The ethics officer of the Assembly, which has a particular mission against harassment since 2013, had itself advocated in January the creation of a listening unit, deeming "insufficient" the device for prevention and fight against corruption. moral and sexual harassment.
