Mexico registers first contagion in national territory

Mexico City /

Mexico registered the first case of a contagion of coronavirus in national territory, that is, without a travel history to a contagion site abroad. This is a woman from Queretaro who tested positive for Covid-19, infected by a relative who contracted the disease in another country.

According to the general director of Epidemiology, José Luis Alomía, the confirmatory result is about to be issued by the state laboratory since it did not reach the cut-off time for the information.

“Indeed, the state of Querétaro announced that they had a positive result for SARS-CoV-2 in one of the identified contacts of the first case “.

Alomía explained that this is a case associated with another imported one, as it is a relative of another carrier of the virus, so it still corresponds to scenario 1 of infections that include both those who contracted the disease in another country, their close contacts and outbreaks. relatives, considered as the second generation of virus transmission.

“In scenario 1 we have three types of cases: the imported case, that is to say, the person who became infected abroad; the import partner, the people who got it from the person who returned, and family outbreaks which can be three, four or five cases “.
