Merdeka.com – The Ministry of Agriculture signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft to empower small farmers. Through this partnership, the two sides present technology-oriented solutions that will help increase revenue using breakthrough, cloud-based technologies, machine learning and advanced analytics.
This MoU will help MOA and partners improve information distribution towards higher efficiency and productivity throughout the supply chain. From building collaborative platforms, capturing agricultural data sets such as crop yields, weather data, market demand and prices, to building machine learning models, and strategic agreements will help transform the agricultural industry to become more data-driven for the benefit of stakeholders.
The Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, said that the government must invest in farmers to ensure national food security. He believes data-based agricultural ecosystems supported by advanced technology platforms will truly benefit farmers.
“The Microsoft technology platform will be the foundation of our ecosystem that includes partners, startups and NGOs that will help us change the lives of Indonesian farmers from Sabang to Merauke. I can’t wait to see the big difference we will make together,” said Syahrul in his official statement. on Thursday (28/2).
The points that are planned to be carried out are to further strengthen the digital agricultural ecosystem, including helping farmers to transform digitally through collaborative education programs from Microsoft and the Ministry of Agriculture. This includes a skills portal for farming communities to access the latest knowledge and information from across the archipelago.
