Moto2 FT2: The other placements
Jorge Navarro missed the jump into the top 10 by nine thousandths and finished eleventh. Marcel Schrötter follows in twelfth place. Hector Garzo and Jake Dixon have secured the last two Q2 direct places for today.
Tom Lüthi only ends Friday in 18th place. He has to hope that tomorrow morning he will be able to improve despite the cooler temperatures again in order to move directly into Q2.
Moto2 FT2: Best time for speed-up
Fabio Di Giannantonio stays in front and thus secures the top spot on Friday. In the end, he was only 0.045 seconds apart from Marco Bezzecchi. Sam Lowes remains third despite his fall.
Edgar Pons finished the training in a strong fourth. Behind them, World Cup leader Luca Marini completes the top 5. The second half of the top 10 is led by Enea Bastianini, who attracted attention with a spectacular save (see tweet). Behind him are Marcos Ramirez, Remy Gardner, Jorge Martin and Joe Roberts.
Moto2 FT2: More falls
More and more drivers fall: Piotr Biesiekirski and Kasma Daniel also went down. Daniel’s fall looks particularly spectacular because his bike flies high through the air and rolls over several times. The SAG team now has some work to do …
And Garzo also joins the crash pilots. He crashes in turn 3, but can pick up his Kalex and tries to continue.
Moto2 FT2: change in leadership
Some drivers are now picking up the pace again. Both Bezzecchi and Di Giannantonio undercut Lowes’ previous best time and overtake the British in the classification. Edgar Pons makes a big leap forward and is new fourth.
At Turn 7 it got Lowes who was about to attack again, but instead ends up in the gravel.
Moto2 FT2: New best time
Lowes picks up and nibbles a few hundredths of his best time, which is now 1: 53.854 minutes. Marini holds second place, followed by team-mate Bezzecchi. Di Giannantonio and Ramirez complete the top 5.
Another rider, Andi Farid Izdihar, fell.
Moto2 FT2: MV Agusta in the gravel
At turn 13 we see the first fall of this training session. It’s about Simone Corsi, who sank his MV Agusta in the gravel. He can run away, his bike has to be recovered by marshals.
Moto2 FT2: Marini increases
Now Marini is among the leaders. The world championship leader fought his way up to 0.166 seconds on Lowes’ best time and is on another fast lap, but then turns into the pits. The majority is currently in the garages.
We are halfway through this training session.
Moto2 FT2: light and shadow at IntactGP
Schrötter is one of seven drivers who have not yet been able to improve compared to the morning. That’s why the German is only eleventh in the current session’s ranking. In the combined timesheet, however, thanks to the stronger FT1 time, he is sure to be in the top 10 – at least for now.
It is much more difficult for Lüthi, who is only in 20th place. He is 1.827 seconds short of the best time. That’s a lot of wood …
Moto2 FT2: Lowes best time
Bezzecchi sets a new best time, but moments later, Lowes is even faster. The Brit marked a new best time of the day with 1: 52.882 minutes. More and more drivers are now undercutting their FT1 time.
The top 5 are: Lowes, Bezzecchi, di Giannantonio, Gardner and Ramirez. Schrötter is in sixth place.
Moto2 FT2: Riders are on the move
All 30 drivers are on the track and Marco Bezzecchi is the first driver to undercut his morning time. Gardner, Ramirez and Manzi are also faster in the top 14 than in FT1. The longer the drivers are out, the more improvements we will see.
Moto2 FT2: Last training of the day
We still have one training session. Marcel Schrötter was second in the morning and showed good lap times. Hopefully the German can confirm that now.
MotoGP FT2: Ducati not in the top 10
Places eight to ten go to Alex Marquez (Honda), Takaaki Nakagami (LCR-Honda) and Alex Rins (Suzuki).
It’s not a good day for Ducati. The Avintia duo Johann Zarco and Tito Rabat is eleven and twelve with the 2019 Desmosedici.
Andrea Dovizioso, Jack Miller and Danilo Petrucci follow as 13th, 14th and 15th. Francesco Bagnaia is only 19.
Stefan Bradl (Honda) finished the day after his crash in 20th place and penultimate.
MotoGP FT2: Yamaha Triple Leadership
The training comes to an end and the three Yamaha riders occupy the first three places. Maverick Vinales is the fastest with 1: 47.771 minutes. He is also the only driver under 1:48. Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli follow in second and third.
Suzuki driver Joan Mir finished the day in fourth place. But he is already 0.730 minutes behind. There are only seven drivers in one second. There are still Cal Crutchlow (LCR-Honda) as well as Aleix (Aprilia) and Pol Espargaro (KTM).
