Tommie Christiaan, known for roles in productions such as Hair in Zorro, has been working as a gardener since November. Due to the corona crisis, he currently has no jobs in the theater world and so decided to look for other work.
Christiaan (34) tells in conversation with it AD that he used to enjoy working in the garden with his mother. “Let me make something with my hands, lay a floor or work in the garden,” said the actor.
He spent a number of weeks at a landscaping company in Bleiswijk and has been officially working since 1 November. He is regularly recognized by bystanders during his work.
“The reactions are: ‘Oh, how sorry for you’. But I don’t mind this. Look, I was forced to take this step, but I also like it. I am tired at night and feel satisfaction. It is rewarding work and more: there are so many people who work five days a week from seven in the morning to five in the afternoon. “
Christiaan plans to perform again as soon as possible. But he also does not want to say goodbye to the landscaping profession. “I think I’ll keep doing this work, a few days a week. Also for the nice rhythm.”
