Neighbors are concentrated in Cibeles so that Vallecas does not become "the landfill" of the region

Hundreds of people have demonstrated on Sunday at the gates of the Palacio de Cibeles, headquarters of the City Council, to request that the Vallecas neighborhood not become the "landfill of the Community of Madrid", after the decision of the Consistory to move garbage from the Commonwealth of the East to the Valdemingómez waste plant located in this neighborhood.

The Regional Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Madrid (FRAVM) has been in charge of calling the public to protest against this measure taken by the municipal government, managing to gather the summons to some 600 people, according to the National Police.

Dressed in masks and carrying banners against the transfer of garbage from the East, the concentrates have released slogans such as "ruin mayor, garbage for you" or posters such as "No to the waste of the Commonwealth of the East."

«In the plenary, by majority, it has been decided not decided that no but the mayor with his divine finger and from his position decides and has the power to admit garbage. In democracy that is incomprehensible, ”criticized the president of the FRAVM, Enrique Villalobos, to Europa Press.

In this regard, he stressed that "Vallecas cannot be the landfill of the Community of Madrid." For this reason, Villalobos explained that the FRAVM will request precautionary measures next week before the contentious-administrative court after having rejected the most cautious of More Madrid. "We understand that this is being done from an illicit administrative and we hope that justice stops it," Villalobos said.

This petition will be supported by neighborhood associations that make up the FRAVM such as the Neighborhood Association of La Unión, as confirmed by its spokesman, Alberto Morant. The option that they have highlighted since this neighborhood association is that «each district, if it can manage its own garbage, try it».

This demonstration has also been supported by representatives of municipal groups. "We demand that the deceit and mistreatment of the residents of Vallecas be ended," said socialist councilor Alfredo Rodríguez.

The solution they propose is to look for alternatives such as transferring garbage to the Loeches plant. Faced with the criticism of PP and Cs regarding the role played by the socialist mayor of Alcalá de Henares and president of the Commonwealth of the East, Javier Rodríguez Palacios, the councilor has argued that Rodríguez Palacios «defends his neighbors as he should do the City of Madrid".

Although from Más Madrid and the FRAVM have gone to court, Alfredo Rodríguez has indicated that from the PSOE they are studying it. In his opinion, the Community of Madrid is responsible for this situation, a position shared by the Councilor for More Madrid at the Paco Pérez City Council. Perez has also pointed out that "if Valdemingómez were in the north, this exceptional solution would not have been sought" and has reiterated that the waste is treated in Loeches.

From the municipal group, they hope that, after the response period that the City Council has, next Tuesday, to respond in the judicial process initiated by More Madrid, this transfer will be suspended. Along with Perez, the deputy of More Country, Íñigo Errejón, has asked the Local Government and the Regional "to worry about the health of Madrid, so they can breathe well."

On the other hand, United We have also supported the demonstration through the deputy Javier Cañadas and the spokeswoman in the Assembly of Madrid, Isa Serra. Cañadas has stressed that the situation of the Commonwealth of the East is a "widespread problem before the highest authority of the Community of Madrid, which are missing."

The solution they propose from their municipal group is that "the regional government take action on the matter" and "work in a decentralized manner." Serra has criticized the position of the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, regarding pollution. "What can we expect from a president who says pollution doesn't kill anyone," he said.

In contrast, Serra has indicated that the alternative is to make a "comprehensive waste plan" so that "it is not the neighbors of the south, the most disadvantaged, who are always swallowed garbage, pollution and bad smell." . (tagsToTranslate) manifestation (t) garbage (t) valdemingomez
