New Honda NT1100, the Africa Twin-based crossover is coming

The new Honda NT1100 2022, the Africa Twin-based crossover, is coming. To confirm this is a teaser video released by the House, which announces the new model arriving on 21 October. But let’s take a step back: last summer Honda had filed the name “NT1100” and some patents had appeared that anticipated the arrival of a crossover capable of dealing directly with market rivals put on the road by BMW, Ducati, Yamaha and Co. . The leaked papers also told us that the Tokyo house has in mind two distinct models of the new NT1100: A and D, which presumably demonstrate the use, on the second, change DCT. Needless to say, the presence of the 1100 figure in the name suggests that the 2022 novelty could be pushed by in-line twin of the current Africa Twin, a 102 HP Euro 5 engine at 7,500 rpm. and 105 Nm of maximum torque at 6,250 rpm.

With a move of this kind, Honda will expand its range with the large-volume crossover that currently does not have in the ranks. The NT1100 should resume the lines of the Concept CB4X (in the photo above together with some renderings made by the Japanese magazine Autoby, the final design will therefore be different), presented at Eicma in 2019 and capable of attracting the attention of fans of the segment. Certain things include the 17 ”wheels and an already declared weight of 238 kg (about 10 more for the DCT version). What we see in some frames of the teaser video is a bike that is comfortable for traveling, even for two, which has a large windshield, side deflectors and trio of suitcases (which may be optional). We then expect to see on a motorcycle of this type also a digital color instrumentation, with the connection with the smartphone and the predisposition for Android Auto and Apple Car Play.
