Olesen stays suspended from a European trip among an assault case

LONDON – golfer of Denmark Thorbjorn Olesen will stay suspended from the European Tour until December at least after being accused of sexual assault and being drunk on an aircraft.

Olesen, 29 years of age, was seen in court in London on Wednesday for the charges. No plea was entered at a short hearing, and a plea was heard on 13 December.

Olesen previously indicated that he would plead not guilty with the charges. A temporary trial date has been set for 11 May next year, which will run for five days.

The European Tour said in a statement to the Associated Press that Olesen remains suspended from the European Tour while the case continues. “The journey didn't say if he would stay suspended when he enters a plea.

Olesen, a member of the European Ryder Cup team in 2018 and a five-time European Tour winner, was arrested on 29 July after returning to London from the World Championship event in Tennessee.

He was also charged with a three-beat attack.
