Omicron Detected in 8 Regions, Latest Positive Case Found in Madiun, East Java

TRIBUNNEWS.COM – Cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 have been detected in eight regions in the country.

Most recently, the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 case was found in Madiun City, East Java Province, Saturday (15/1/2022).

A total of three residents of Ngranget Village, Dagangan District, Madiun Regency, were confirmed positive for the COVID-19 variant of the Omicron.

One of the Omicron patients is an Indonesian migrant worker who recently returned from Hong Kong.

Two other people were also confirmed positive after undergoing tracing or tracking history together with 18 residents who are in close contact with the PMI from Hong Kong.

Now they are reportedly undergoing centralized isolation at the Dolopo Madiun Hospital.

“Two are positive, namely the husband-to-be and his parents, and yesterday they were also evacuated to the Dolopo Hospital as well.”

“And we are also expanding our tracing and testing. Yesterday we got 18 and it turned out that two of them were positive,” said the Head of P2P of the Madiun District Health Office, Anies Djaka, quoted from Kompas Tv, Sunday (16/1/2022).

To note, apart from Madiun, these regions have also recorded cases of Omicron.
