OnePlus 8T renderings hint at major design change

The OnePlus 8T is falling into place. Over the past few weeks, specs for OnePlus’ next flagship have been posted online. Now detailed renderings of the OnePlus 8T appeared thanks to Pricebaba.

The renderings detail some major design changes to the phone itself. For its next device, OnePlus is moving the camera bump to the upper left side. Moving the camera to the upper left side is consistent with what he did for the OnePlus North.

However, this change also means that the OnePlus 8T looks more like Samsung’s latest flagship Galaxy models than ever.

OnePlus is rumored to have equipped the 8T with a quad camera again. Leaks have indicated a 48MP + 16MP ultra wide + 5MP macro + 2MP portrait primary sensor. Rumors also suggest a better image sensor, which would help improve image quality for the next flagship.

The design of the front of the OnePlus 8T will also undergo a major change. Renderings suggest a flat screen with almost symmetrical bezels on all sides. These renderings are consistent with the recent render discovered by XDA developers. A flat screen for the 8T is a departure from the company’s move towards a curved screen with its flagships this year.

The only stand-alone camera located on the screen cutout is here to stay, however. Leaks suggest a 32MP device, which is twice as much as the OnePlus 8 series. As for the screen, we can expect a 6.55-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz.

OnLeaks has also released the full specifications of the OnePlus 8T. Surprisingly, they claim that the next phone will only have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. Leaks so far have shown the use of a very powerful Snapdragon 865+. Either way, it’s interesting to see what OnePlus has in store for us for this year’s T.

The device is powered by the latest OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11.

Meanwhile, memory and storage are planned for two configurations. The base model is supposed to start with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. There is also a high-end configuration with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.

Finally, OnePlus would keep the 4,500mAh battery for the 8T. OnePlus 8T users will also benefit from faster wired charging thanks to a new 65W Warp charge that comes in the box.

The price and availability of OnePlus’ next flagship is unknown at this time. However, the launch is scheduled for late September or early October.
