Palliative sedation for covid-19 patients could be much better

The current guideline for palliative sedation is inadequate in covid-19 patients with high oxygen demand. Higher doses of midazolam and an active anticipatory policy lead to more comfort in these patients.

The Covid-19 pandemic has added a large group of dying patients with an indication for palliative sedation. Although there are now many webinars about diagnostics and supportive therapy in covid-19, there is still little knowledge about the palliative phase in these patients. In practice, the current guideline for palliative sedation appears to be inadequate in covid-19 patients with high oxygen demand.
