physical and mental health in Barranquilla: Get to know ‘I’m active’, a program for the care of physical and mental health | Commercial

This program, which was presented by the mayor Jaime Pumarejo Heins, and will be developed in partnership with the Ministry of Sports, will offer virtual routines designed to be done in small spaces, among them, aerobic gymnastics, muscle stimulation, aerobic rumba and mixed martial arts.

The initiation of the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla will be transmitted through the account of Instagram of the Secretary of Recreation and Sports (@SecDeportesBaq), Monday through Friday at 9:00 am and 7:00 pm

Mayor Jaime Pumarejo highlighted the importance of programs such as #SoyActiva, because in the midst of the pandemic, it became clear that people do not perform physical activities.

“During the pendemic, those who were most likely to get sick and have complications were those who did not have a healthy lifestyle, because that worsened their quality of life. We quickly started a program so that people could go out to the patio or terrace of their house to do physical activities”Said Mayor Pumarejo.

Another component of the program is the presence of instructors guiding physical activity days in parks and public spaces of the city like the Gran Malecón, with groups that do not exceed eight participants.

Likewise, fPhysical Therapists will be present in the biosaludable gyms located in the parks with the aim of guiding machine users on how to improve their performance and how to feel better after physical activity.
