Pinterest is introducing a “personalized search experience” when you search for coronavirus information on its platform, as a way to “connect Pinner with facts and bribes that are not true with authoritative information from the [World Health Organization]”, Says the company The Verge.
I searched for “coronavirus” and “COVID-19” (the respiratory disease caused by the new coronavirus) on Pinterest and was taken to the next page, which edited the contents of the WHO on how to protect yourself and others from getting sick, such as wash your hands, when to use a mask and more.
Pinterest recommends following the WHO-verified Pinterest account to view new information about the health or well-being it contains. The company also says The Verge which will remove any misinformation it finds on coronavirus because it will violate its sanitary disinformation policy.
“We have partnered with the World Health Organization over the past year to link Pinner to facts on critical health topics, from the new coronavirus to vaccines,” said a Pinterest spokesman in a statement. “We want to do our part to make sure people can find authoritative information when it really matters.”
Pinterest’s approach to coronavirus information is similar to the way it provides accurate research results on vaccines and their safety.
