Pokémon GO 2020 was eventful and successful. But it will continue in 2021 and the first events and innovations are already known. We’ll show you what we already know.
We show you here: Niantic was already hardworking and has announced some events for the coming year. So you don’t have to worry about Pokémon GO turning its content down in the coming weeks.
We give you an overview of all the events that have already been announced and give you an outlook on further innovations that could await us in 2021.
These events await us in January 2021
We already know a lot about the coming month and almost everything has been planned by at least mid-January.
These raid bosses are coming in January: There will be a lot of rotation in the legendary raids in January. What is known so far:
- Ho-Oh: January 1 at 10:00 p.m. to January 5 at 10:00 a.m.
- Genesect with flame module: January 5th at 10:00 AM to January 12th at 10:00 AM
- Heatran: January 12th at 10:00 AM to January 19th at 10:00 AM
- Kyogre and Groudon: January 19 at 10:00 a.m. to January 26 at 10:00 a.m.
- Surprise Pokémon: From January 26th at 10:00 a.m. until unknown
These are the spotlight hours: There will continue to be a spotlight hour every Tuesday in January. The focus is always on a different Pokémon. One after the other, the monsters will be Yorfleff, Driftlon, Knilz and Donphan. A bonus will still be available for this.
This is the research breakthrough: In January 2021, you will receive the normal Pokémon Chansey in Research Breakthrough. It can also appear in an iridescent form.
This is the first event in the new year: The New Year’s event starts right on New Year’s Eve and will run until January 4th. It brings Pokémon with party hats and Flegmon will wear 2020 glasses.
These events are also held: Later in the month, events related to specific generations continue. On January 5th it will Einall-Event started. An event that focuses on 5th generation monsters and brings out Shiny Serpifeu.
Thereafter, a Sinnoh event is planned, which Pokémon from the 4th generation will appear more. This event starts on January 12th. In the following weeks, the other generations should also get a similar event.
This Community Day is planned: On January 16th the Community Day this month. He’ll revolve around Machollo and bring triple stardust for captured Pokémon.
This secret could be revealed in January: You can reach the maximum level 50 in Pokémon GO for a few weeks now. Australians can do this even longer. So far, the players are stuck at level 47.
For level 48 you need at least 8 weeksto solve the tasks set there. For Australian players, this period ends in January and they can continue leveling. Then we will also find out which tasks are hidden behind the last levels and how difficult they will be.
These events are already planned later
This is the Kanto tour: This Event was announced at the beginning of December and takes place on February 20th. The event will only be about the Kanto region, i.e. the first generation.
You can buy a ticket for the event so that you can benefit from all the bonuses. Without a ticket, there will still be increased Kanto spawns and limited research.
There will be every Shiny from the Kanto region in the event. It means that Mew, Relaxo and 5 other Shinys will be introduced through the event. There will also be special raid bosses and quests.
The event will play a little like GO Fest 2020 and bring you some Shinys.
These events should await us in 2021
What about a GO Fest? It remains to be seen how the corona pandemic develops in 2021. Niantic already had in one Interview with MeinMMO reveal that a GO Fest in the Home Edition will not be normal and that one would like to return to the local GO Fests.
It is definitely conceivable that we will experience a new GO Fest in 2021. It remains to be seen whether it will take place worldwide and at home or in a special place.
What about Community Days? Community Day is already known for January. It is almost certain that Community Days will also await us in the months that follow. The Pokémon in the center could get interesting though. After all, Shiny Serpifeu will already be introduced by an event in January. It is the first starter who does not get its shiny version through a community day. It remains to be seen whether other starters will get similar events.
These events are also considered safe: The raid hours and spotlight hours were also successful in 2020. They will continue to be held in January. So it’s hard to imagine that they won’t happen in the months that follow. We can therefore also expect these events in 2021.
