VATICAN CITY – Pope Francis plans to travel to the UAE in February, adding another trip to 2019, already very busy, for trips abroad.
The Vatican announced Thursday that Francis will attend an interfaith meeting during the trip to Abu Dhabi from February 3 to 5.
The theme of the trip is peace, with the logo depicting a dove carrying an olive branch, suggesting that Francis will make a strong call for dialogue between Christians and Muslims and for peace in the region.
Francis, 81, will travel just one week after returning from Panama, where he will travel from January 22-27 to participate in the World Catholic Youth Day rally.
In March, Francis is expected to visit Morocco, while a trip to Japan in 2019 is also under study.
