Raphaël, a 10-year-old child, is actively wanted by the police. The child was kidnapped by his father while he was in custody during the Christmas holidays. His mother fears the worst after discovering a farewell letter written by Raphael’s father.
Raphaël’s mother is German, his father is Belgian. This Monday, Melanie went to Cologne station to pick up her son. The latter was supposed to return from his vacation spent with his father. But it never happened. “I hope so much that he will come back, that he will say hi from afar and run towards me as he usually does …”, she confides.
Raphaël’s father is Belgian. He had custody rights during the Christmas holidays but did not bring the child back. He left a farewell letter. “In his letter, he says that it is too much for him that he can no longer bear it and that he is taking Raphael with him”, testifies the mother of the child. The father also deleted his Facebook account before disappearing.
Koen ran away with the little one
In Belgium, her family also filed a complaint and Koen’s new partner notified Melanie of the kidnapping last Wednesday. “The first thing she told me was to go see the police because Koen ran away with the little one”, says his mother.
Despite the existence of the farewell letter, the police say they can do nothing at this time because the father has legal custody until January 2.
Koen also took legal action to obtain his son’s passport a few days before the holidays. He obtained these documents. The police are now looking for Raphael. According to investigators’ information, he was last seen with his father in Amsterdam before taking a flight to a non-European country.
