Eden Hazard limped in the 67th minute of the LaLiga game between Levante and Real Madrid to replace Vinicius. The Belgian Real Madrid player was clearly uncomfortable as he limped over the touchline, where he was greeted by a worried Zinedine Zidane.
Hazard received the treatment
Once in the dugout, an ice pack was placed on Hazard’s ankle. The player has just returned from an injury in that area, although Real Madrid had stated that the player was now in perfect condition.
The appearance of fellow Hazard players was not optimistic. On Wednesday evening, Real Madrid will host Manchester City in the last Champions League match in the last game (21:00) and then Barcelona in Clásico in LaLiga next Sunday at 21:00.
Hazard will be tested in the next few hours to determine the extent of the injury and to see if he has the chance to face Guardiola’s team on Wednesday evening. The signs of obvious discomfort on the part of the midfielder however make that aspect less of a possibility.
Speaking after the game, Zidane said that Hazard had knocked on the same spot where he had had the injury from which he had just recovered and that things “didn’t look good”.
Tonight’s game against Levante was Hazard’s second since recovering from the injury he suffered against PSG on November 27.
