KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – With the criminal case against New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, who was about to unveil, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell rejected Wednesday to say whether the Kraft league intends to be punished under his personal transport policy.
“I'm not going to think about the last part under control,” says Goodell during a day's day of NFL owners day meeting at Florida resort. “Again, (the NFL's priority) is to get all the facts. But, of course, we will be gathering our own facts and trying to understand what really came about, as we would in any case. ”
Kraft attended the meeting but was not available to talk to reporters. He continues to engage in his football-related business as he faces misconduct charges in Florida for seeking prostitution.
Kraft refused a plea deal and won his attorney a great victory in court when a judge issued video evidence that the police gathered at a day spa. But even if Kraft is not convicted of crime, the power transport policy for Goodell would control it by suspension or fine.
Goodell refused to offer a timeline for the series regulating discipline.
“Progress is being made,” says Goodell. “We will wait until that event is completed.”
The NFL intends to interview Knocklough
Goodell said that the series intends to interview a receiver across Kansas Kansas City on Loughlough where possible. The CEOs have prevented Hill from participating in season activities with staff among investigative authorities in the Kansas City area in allegations of child abuse involving a young son Hill. Hill Hill denied injustice to his representatives but the league may have control over personal transport policy.
“Court proceedings are still ongoing relating to the child protection service, and we will not interfere with that,” says Goodell. “The priority is this young child. It is clear that we will co-operate with whatever the court requires. We are happy to go ahead and have an interview when we are allowed to do so. And then we will make a decision based on the information we have at that time. Again, I don't think about where we will go. But we will certainly get all the information we can as soon as possible. ”
Contract considering the use of marijuana for pain management
Goodell was indifferent to the possibility that NFL players could be allowed to use marijuana for future pain management.
The league and the NFL Players Association agreed that they first cooperate with a study of marijuana as a pain management tool for players. This research will come through a joint pain management committee set up by the league and the union.
“There are many different pain medications and treatments,” says Goodell. “And these are the kinds of things we would like this committee to focus on, with medical experts and medical science behind. Of course, they will look at one of them the role that medical marijuana can have that. This will be part of these studies. But it is much wider than that. ”
The NFL and NFLPA announced that two new medical committees, including the pain management committee, were set up earlier this week.
“We asked the committee to look at all the strategies for treating pain,” said Allen Sills, the NFL's chief medical officer, on Wednesday. “So marijuana, cannabinoids, CBD – all those things will be on the list. But we are asking them to look at it and we expect to look at it from a very scientific and medical drive, which is: What does the research show? What does the data show? What are the best treatment strategies? ”
Marijuana remains on the list of prohibited substances from the NFL and players can be suspended for positive testing.
“I think it's really important that we go where science takes us here, not based on personal or opinion stories,” Sills said. “But what is medical science? Because we do the same for our other medical conditions, right? If you ask me as a doctor what is the most effective way to treat hypertension, I would like to show me the studies that show the details of different medicines and recipes. I am more interested in these data than I am self-reported to Aunt Máire, who has used a particular home remedy. We want to drive the data to where we need to be if we are to recommend something from a medical point of view. ”
Labor negotiations are ongoing
The NFL and NFLPA have stated two formal negotiation sessions, Goodell, under a new potential collective bargaining agreement. The current CBA will expire after the 2020 season.
“I hope it's earlier rather than later,” says Goodell. “I think all the parties, especially our fans, have great value in sorting out this issue and going forward. But there are important issues to be addressed. And we're doing that. ”
