The 58-year-old businessman said families with young children should be waved through airport security because they have “virtually” zero chance of being bombers.

He said: “Who are the bombers? They will be single males traveling alone.

“If you travel with a family of children, go on; the odds of blowing them up are zero. “

He added: “You cannot say things because it is racism, but they will generally be males of Muslim persuasion.

“Thirty years ago it was the Irish. If that’s where the threat comes from, manage the threat. “

Chief Ryanair’s comments have been labeled “racist and discriminatory” by the Muslim Council of Britain.

“EXTREMIST ELEMENTS IN EVERY COMMUNITY”

Speaking with the Irish sun, the president of the Irish Muslim Peace and Integration Council Shaykh, dr. Umar Al-Qadri, said that O’Leary’s comments justify racism and discrimination against the Muslim community.

He said: “In the current climate of anti-Muslim sentiment and Islamophobia on the right, making general statements like this is disappointing because it blurs the whole community and justifies racism and discrimination against the community.

“Terrorism is not limited to one community.

“We find extremist elements in every community – a white German recently killed nine innocent people in Germany.

“I am a frequent traveler. I often go with Aer Lingus and Ryanair.

“Already as Muslims, especially single men, we have to go through a lot of checks when we travel.

“It has been happening for several years. At the moment, I am not asking for an airline boycott.

“We hope that if you clarify your comments there will be no need.”

CLEAR OBSERVATIONS

Ryanair released a statement stating that the headline of the newspaper, which reads “The airline boss wants extra checks on Muslim men,” was inaccurate.

The statement said that Micheal O’Leary apologized for any crimes caused by the interview.

A Ryanair spokesman said, “The title in today’s document is simply inaccurate. No calls were made for extra checks on any group or person.

“Michael was only asking for more effective airport security checks that would eliminate many of the unnecessary airport security queues today for all passengers.

“We sincerely apologize for any offense caused to any inaccurate group today.”

In the same interview, boss Ryanair also described obese airline passengers as “monsters” and said, “If you have full monsters, you may have to buy two seats.”

He also said that the need for wheelchair facilities on every floor of an office block he had built in Dublin was “total nonsense”.
