AMD’s next showcase, the Ryzen 9 5950X unveils some of its possibilities. We are entitled to a first performance score but in a particular configuration. Explanations.
The escape is taken from the database of a test software, GeekBench 5. The next Ryzen 9 5950X “Zen 3” from AMD makes its appearance. The chip (engineering sample) is however overclocked. It operates at a frequency of 6.02 GHz. At this speed, she scored 2024 points in single-core and 17448 points in multicore. A screenshot shows that its frequency oscillates between 5931 MHz and 6023 MHz during the test.

Faced with competition the verdict is quick. This Ryzen 9 5950X takes first place. It is positioned in front of a Ryzen 9 3950X, a Ryzen 9 3900X @ 5.88 GHz or even a Core i9-10900K.
This processor has 16 physical cores and 32 logical cores. It base turbine at 3.4 GHz for boost mode at 4.9 GHz. Its L2 cache is 8 MB compared to 64 MB for its L3 cache. It benefits from an engraving at 7 nm and is accompanied by a thermal envelope of 105 Watts. Finally, its memory controller supports DDR4-3200 and more.
