Salesforce.com confirmed on Tuesday evening that it had reached an agreement to buy the Slack messaging platform with a cash and stock offering of nearly $ 27.7 billion. The software group offers $ 26.79 per share along with 0.0776 of its shares in exchange for each Slack stock. The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Salesforce was very close to a deal. This buyout will strengthen the company’s presence in businesses through Slack instant messaging. Slack is listed on the stock exchange since June 2019. This operation opens a new front in the battle between Salesforce and Microsoft in this segment. Slack had recently contacted the European Commission for unfair competition. Investors seemed skeptical of this takeover: Salesforce lost up to 11% on the stock market on Wednesday, to close at -8.93%.
