Samsung has started producing even better OLED displays than ever before

Samsung has begun manufacturing 90Hz OLED displays that will be used on the latest ASUS laptops, the company said. The 14-inch panels, with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 16:10, have been significantly delayed, given that Samsung said they will arrive on the market in March this year.

The additional refresh rate compared to 60Hz OLED panels makes them interesting especially for games. Samsung notes that OLED technology creates less motion blur than LCD panels and claims that you will see clearer motion on a 90Hz OLED screen than on a 120Hz LCD model. In theory, this could result in clearer games on a screen that does not “charge” the computer’s GPU in the same way.

OLED screens also offer better colors, with 100% DCI-P3 coverage that surpasses most LCD models. It also offers deeper shades of black, faster response times and better viewing angles. The disadvantage compared to LCDs is the lack of brightness and lower energy efficiency.

The screens are ready to equip the ASUS Zenbook 14X Pro and Vivobook Pro 14X models announced earlier this month. Samsung also supplies the 16-inch 4K 60Hz panels used on the ASUS ProArt Studio OLED and other models.
