MOSCOW, July 20 – RIA Novosti. Scientists at the Northwell Heals Hospital in Huntington, USA, have shown that daily intake of small doses of aspirin reduces the risk of developing ovarian cancer. About it informs MedicalXpress.
In the course of the work, the specialists studied the data obtained as a result of 13 studies. In total, more than 750,000 women took part in them. The doctors, in particular, were interested in how often they used aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (for example, ibuprofen and naproxen).
Scientists managed to find out that daily consumption of aspirin in small amounts reduces the risk of ovarian cancer by ten percent.
“The results of the work confirm that aspirin can reduce the risk of ovarian cancer, however, before recommending it for daily use, it is necessary to conduct a number of studies,” said Shelley Tuoroger, one of the authors of the scientific work.
In another study that was conducted by employees of the University of Hawaii in Honolulu and the center of Moffitt, the researchers found that women taking aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs have a 30 percent greater survival rate in the case of diagnosing their cancer.
