The coronavirus crisis has all athletes – like the rest of the citizens who don’t have to do essential jobs – locked up at home. Their priority is to stay active so they do not lose shape during confinement, but between workout and exercise routines, they are also finding times to continue to stimulate their competitive cuquette. The party’s instinct, the racing adrenaline rush. In the last week there have been many experiences of athletes taking over a video game and grouping themselves around a screen to compete with each other. The pandemic solution is virtual.
An initiative by Ibai Llanos brings together 16 teams from the league in a tournament
The first to open fire was football through Ibai Llanos, a celebrity in the world of video games in Spain. On his own initiative, and after he had successfully won the derby between Betis and Sevilla, played by Borja Iglesias and Sergio Reguilón, a tournament was organized with most players in the Santander League (Sergi Roberto played for at Barça and Adrián Embarba for Espanyol). The tournament could not only be followed through internet on the platform streaming for Twitch gamers, but also for television, on Movistar. Commentators such as Manolo Lama, Miguel Ángel Román and José Sanchís. Other countries also echoed this. The championship had a solidary background and 190,000 euros were raised.
THANK YOU a @IbaiLlanos, @LaLiga, @ marcoasensio10, @ Carlos10Soler, @thibautcourtois and to all the teams, players and people you made us vibrate with #LaLigaSantanderChallenge and you managed to add 190,000 euros to help the front line staff against him #coronavirus pic.twitter.com/oR38BT7lYR

A virtual Spain-Germany
Each cancellation of a match has opened up the possibility of a virtual replica. And it’s not just clubs, the idea has had an effect on the teams. With the postponement of the Euro until 2021 and all the preparation parties halted, the Federations have also sought alternatives to stay active. So the Spanish and German national teams have been invented a friendly match to replace what they had to play on the 26th. Four duels have been organized: the absolute, which will face Marco Asensio with the goalkeeper Bernd Leno, the absolute female, who will face Sheila García with Vanessa Fudalla, the under-21 version , with Barça Abel Ruiz against Nico Schlotterbeck, and one with sports, which will be played by JRA and MoAuba. Teledeporte will provide live coverage of the matches.

Semi-professional football is also being mobilized
Following the example of the professionals, the Second Division B and the Third Division also mobilized quickly to imitate the tournament that the First players had done. In the Third Championship, the winner was La Pobla de Mafumet, represented by the controls by Iván Riveiro. He defeated the UA Horta, in which David López played. This week the tournament will be taking center stage in the third group of 2nd B.

The Marquez brothers’ rivalry goes far beyond the tarmac
The idea of virtual tournaments is not unique to football. Also on Sunday, MotoGP riders made the jump to screens and took part in a six-lap race on the Italian Mugello circuit. Under the tag #StayAtHomeGP and with the narration of the specialist sports Jack Appleyard, a virtual race was run by riders Marc and Alex Márquez, Alex Rins, Maverick Viñales, Aleix Espargaró, Joan Mir, Miguel Oliveira, Iker Lecuona, Pecco Bagnaia and Fabio Quartararo. The victory was for the Márquez child, who “made his debut” in the queen category and surprised the rest of the riders from the beginning. He himself made jokes on social media.
I expected the debut in @MotoGP it was different but … first victory !! Debuted dream! 😃😂

The rallycross will run tests scheduled in video game format
A multiple agreement between Motorsports Games, Codemasters and the FIA Rallycross World Cup will make it possible for the rallycross competition to stop literally, for the duration of the coronavirus pandemic confinement. Races have been organized that will challenge video game enthusiasts with professional riders, and the idea is to keep up with the schedule events. The first race, in fact, will be in Barcelona and will be held on April 19 (it was scheduled for that weekend), although the selection process for fans has already begun. All they have to do is complete 6 laps at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit in Montmeló. The fastest ones will be invited to participate in the race, already with the professional riders involved.

A virtual league on Catalan initiative
The trainer and sports director of the CB Sant Celoni, Pere Purrà, has organized a virtual league with 30 Catalan clubs. Purrà is one of the most active basketball coaches in the network these days in confinement (he is sharing content and moderating video conferencing) and his driving force has been a championship. The participating clubs have yet to be confirmed and it is set to start playing later this week.
