Strike SNCF: a couple of Wasquehal will finally be able to celebrate 60 years of marriage in Provence

Sixty years of marriage, it’s a party! A young couple from Wasquehal, near Roubaix, will soon be celebrating his “Diamond Wedding”. For this, lovers hope to leave next week in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence with children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. That’s forty people in total. Problem: Their round trip by train falls in the middle of a strike .

Jacques and Marie-Lucie Fondeur (86 and 87) decided to write directly to SNCF. And this Wednesday at the end of the afternoon … surprise! A member of the group gives them a phone call. Jacques tells the following:

“I was summoned by SNCF deputy managing director Mathias Vicherat and he told me that he was very touched by our letter and was happy to tell us that he had taken all the arrangements for our two TGVs to run normally! ”

“I did not want to explode with joy in front of him but I expressed all our gratitude to him, my wife and myself.”
