Supervise the Handling of DHF Cases, Commission IX DPR RI Visits Sleman

Sleman, InfoPublik – In order to supervise the handling of cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF), Commission IX of the DPR RI held a working visit to Sleman Regency, DI Yogyakarta, on Thursday (9/9/2021).

The group, led by Ansory Siregar, was received directly by the Regent of Sleman, Kustini Sri Purnomo, in the Meeting Room of the Sleman Regional Government Office. Participate in the group of members of the House of Representatives Commission IX who are also national artists Krisdayanti and Arzety Bilbina.

Sleman Regent, Kustini Sri Purnomo on the occasion stated that, according to data from the Sleman Health Service, in 2020 there were 810 cases of DHF in Sleman Regency, with 2 deaths.

To suppress this lift, the Sleman Regency Government has taken preventive measures, namely the Wolbachia bacteria-based DHF control program which was launched on May 21, 2021. “The implementation of Wolbachia technology in Sleman Regency was applied to 13 Kapanewon, 39 sub-districts, and approximately 588 hamlets,” explained Kustini. .

Meanwhile, Asrory Siregar conveyed that dengue is an endemic disease, it is important to watch out for it. The disease caused by the Dengue Virus has the potential to become a double burdened disease during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Wolbachia method, Asrory continued, can be used as a method to overcome the transmission of DHF in endemic areas, including in Sleman Regency. Based on research from UGM and supported by the Tahija Foundation, this method has proven to be effective in reducing 77.1 percent of dengue cases and reducing the need for hospital care by 88.2 percent.

“This method can be one of the innovations in the dengue control program that complements the current and ongoing interventions,” said Ansory.

During the visit of the Indonesian House of Representatives, the Sleman government also provided assistance packages to the Sleman government in the form of 40 mosquito rackets, 24 liters of lucicticide, 40,000 RDT, and 30,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine and 10,000 rapid antigens.
