Amendments were tabled by Evija Papule, Edgars Tavars (ZZS), Armands Krauze (ZZS), Viktors Valainis (ZZS) and Vjačeslavs Dombrovskis.
As the agency LETA informed in the Saeima Press Service, the amendments envisage strengthening the law that the learner must not tolerate emotional and physical violence against the teacher.
The head of the educational institution is planned to evaluate the information provided by the teacher about the violence, as well as to report to the founder of the institution or law enforcement institutions. In turn, the founder, receiving information from the head of the institution about the violence of the pupils or their parents against the teacher, will have to ensure the evaluation of the received information and its submission to the law enforcement authorities.
It is also planned to strengthen the law that the teacher does not have to respond immediately to telephone calls, messages or e-mails from students or their parents if they are received outside the teacher’s working hours.
