Synology announces the launch of the new HAS5300 series 3.5″ SAS HDDs to meet the growing business demand for high-capacity, high-performance resilient storage systems.
Available in 16TB, 12TB and 8TB models, the HAS5300 drives are the latest addition to Synology’s line of enterprise hard drives, following the release of the HAT5300 series SATA drives in January. They work well with Synology’s powerful and highly scalable SA or UC series storage solutions.
High performance for mission-critical workloads
HAS5300 SAS drives support workloads of 550 TB/year(1) and are approved for a Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) of 2.5 million hours, delivering smooth, premium performance in the most intensive work environments. Persistent write cache technology helps ensure data integrity for critical applications.
Based on the SAS protocol, the Synology HAS5300 drives allow users to scale up to 180 drives within the powerful Synology SA series or maximize the availability of their iSCSI system with the dual controller setup at the UC3200 active-active IP-SAN. The drives also support high-speed data transfer for data-intensive configurations.
“These drives offer uninterrupted data transfer rates of up to 274 MB/s(2), making them the ideal choice for businesses that need maximum performance and reliability,” said Peggy Weng, Product Manager at Synology Inc. “Whether for large-scale video surveillance, multimedia post-production or other high-volume processes, the HAS5300 drives deliver consistent professional performance.”
Designed to improve the performance of Synology systems
More than 200,000 hours of compatibility and load testing(3) of the three models on Synology systems ensures that HAS5300 series drives provide unparalleled reliability and integration with Synology applications, enabling customers to create thoroughly validated and reliable storage solutions.
At the same time, the HAS5300 series has been optimized during development for the best compatibility and the best possible performance with Synology systems, especially achieving a significant improvement in RAID repairs.
“Due to custom firmware and optimization for Synology hardware, RAID repairs on systems with HAS5300 drives are 27% faster than comparable drives in the market(4), significantly reducing arrays’ time in a damaged state and improving long-term system availability. improved,” explains Peggy Weng.
Firmware updates for HAS5300 drives are delivered simultaneously with the latest updates for Synology’s DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system. As a result, IT teams spend less time on maintenance and your system always runs on the latest software. The HAS5300 series is backed by Synology’s 5-year limited warranty.
The 16TG, 12TB and 8TB HAS5300 drives are available for purchase from Synology resellers worldwide starting today.
